HOMEMADE PORK AND BEANS⁠


INGREDIENTS⁠
⁠½ pound thick cut bacon diced⁠
¾ cup finely chopped yellow onion⁠
1 cup tomato sauce⁠
¼ cup brown sugar⁠
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar⁠
1 ½ teaspoons ground mustard⁠
1 teaspoon garlic powder⁠
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce⁠
1/4 teaspoon black pepper⁠
45 ounces canned navy or cannellini beans (undrained)⁠
Kosher salt to taste⁠



Method:
1. Heat a large pot over medium heat and add the diced bacon. Cook until the fat is rendered out, 4-5 minutes. Add diced onion and cook, stirring often, until softened; 7-8 minutes.⁠
2. Stir in tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, ground mustard, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.⁠
3. Add the beans in their liquid and bring the mixture back up to a simmer. Cook, stirring often, for 15-20 minutes. The sauce will thicken as it simmers.⁠
4. Taste and season with salt as desired.⁠
