If you like American Hot pizzas and you like pasta you're going to love this!
Cheesy, smokey spicy comfort food. and ready to pop under the grill in just 15 minutes.
The sauce is made from pepperoni, passata, cheddar cheese dried herbs, jalapeños (from a jar) onion and red peppers and topped with lovely melty mozarella!
Ingredients:
400g fusilli pastaOil for frying
1 onion finely sliced
1 red pepper finely sliced
1 clove garlic finely chopped
100g pepperoni slices finely sliced
12 slices of jalapeño (from a jar) finely chopped + extra for the topping
1 tsp mixed herbs
800g passata
Salt and pepper
75g grated cheddar cheese
2 balls of mozarella
Method:
Place the pasta in a large saucepan. Cover in boiling salted water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes or until just cooked.In the meantime. Heat a drizzle of oil in a large non-stick pan.
Add the onion and red pepper and fry on a medium heat for 5 minutes.
Stir in the garlic, pepperoni and jalapeños and fry for 3 minutes.
Add the mixed herbs and fry for a final minute. Stir in the passata and season with salt and pepper.
Gently bring to the boil. When the pasta is cooked, take 100ml of pasta water from the pan. Add it to the sauce with the drained pasta and cheddar cheese.
Stir until the cheese has melted and the pasta is coated.
Pour the pasta in to an oven dish roughly 30cm x 20cm
Cover the top with sliced mozarella and a few more jalapeños (depending on how hot you like it!).
Place under the grill for a few minutes until the the mozarella has melted and started to turn golden brown.
