Love this recipe it’s perfect every time and perfect weather here in kzn another scorching day.
These buns are so awesome that it remains soft even after a few days.
4 cups flour sifted
3 tsp crushed fennel seeds (I blitz them in the coffee grinder)
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 packet instant yeast
1 tsp salt
3 tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup melted butte
2 tablespoons oil
1 egg
1/2cup warm milk
1/3 cup plain yogurt
Enough warm water to form a firm soft dough+-1/2 cup use little at a time
Method:
1.) Place all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Using your hands gently mix them in together "lifting" it through your hands.
2.) place butter, yogurt, egg, oil and milk in a bowl and whisk it. Add this to dry ingredients.
3.) add enough water to make a soft and firm dough and mix in
Knead for 10-15 min
4. Wrap with cling wrap and let it proof in a warm place until double in size. Punch down and Roll into a log and cut equal sized balls and shape into rolls.
4.) place in a greased cake tin starting by placing one roll in the centre and More around it like flower and so on until all the rolls are placed into the tin. Cover the tin with a dish towel and Let them proof for another 20-30 min.
5.) brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 180 for 20 min or until brown and baked right through. Brush with melted butter after it’s baked
