Sweet Chilli Beef Flatbreads

Ingredient:

500g lean beef mince

1 tsp chilli powder

1 tbsp cornflour

Oil for frying

1 red pepper roughly chopped into 2-3 cm pieces

1 onion finely chopped

For the sauce:

5 tbsp sweet chilli sauce

4 tbsp water

1 tbsp soy sauce

1/2 tsp chilli powder

Salt and pepper

Method:

  1. Tip the beef mince into a bowl and roughly break it up with your hands. Sprinkle it with the chilli powder and corn flour and work it through the mince with your fingertips until it's evenly spread.


  1. Heat a drizzle of oil into a large non stick frying pan. Fry the beef on a medium heat, stirring reguarly until browned all over. Set the beef aside.


  1. Add a little more oil to the pan if needed, before adding the onion and red pepper. Fry for 5 minutes until soft. Return the beef to the pan.


  1. Mix the sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce, water and another 1/2 teaspoon of chilli together. Season with salt and pepper.


  1. Pour the sauce into the pan and simmer on a medium heat for about 5 minutes, until the beef is cooked through and the sauce has reduced to a sticky glaze.


  1. Serve on warm flat breads with salad and a drizzle of Greek yoghurt.
